Author: Scazzero, Peter
Publisher: Zondervan

Introduction:

Emotions affect us all the time in our lives. To Christians, emotions also highly affect the growth of spiritual maturity. We cannot be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. Growth takes time and the book Emotionally Healthy Spirituality: It's Impossible to Be Spiritually Mature, While Remaining Emotionally Immature outlines a roadmap for discipleship with Jesus that is powerfully transformative. It unveils what's wrong with our current definition of "spiritual growth" and offers not only a model of spirituality that actually works, but seven steps to change that will help you experience authentic faith and hunger for God. This book will unpack core biblical principles to guide you into an experience of lasting, beneath-the-surface transformation in your relationship with Christ. The workbook also includes session introductions, group discussion questions, application, and between-sessions personal study.

Book Name
The Christian and Anxiety‍

Author: Balthasar, Hans Urs Von
Publisher: Ignatius Press

Introduction:

Christians have God in their lives; however, they are not immune from anxiety. Anxiety, with its emptiness and darkness, with its entanglement in sin, is redeemed. Anxiety finds its ultimate meaning in the fact that the Word of God has taken it upon Himself. The author of the book The Christian and Anxiety tries to link philosophy and theology together. On the one hand, revelation takes account of the anthropological phenomenon of anxiety. On the other hand, philosophy, at least in the modern period, has seen anxiety as a fundamental dimension of man’s existence. The book's dense philosophical analyses, its frequent dramatic passages, and its commentaries on numerous biblical texts can easily deter prospective readers. The author is not content only to show how much anxiety is profoundly inscribed in the heart and the word of God, from the Psalms to the Gospels but enters into intimate dialogue with contemporary thought and in particular its existentialist expression. If you want to explore the theology between Christianity and Anxiety, you should not miss this book.

Book Name
The Anxious Achiever: Turn Your Biggest Fears into Your Leadership Superpower‍

Author: Aarons-Mele, Morra
Publisher: Harvard Business Review Press

Introduction:

Being a leader is exciting but also full of challenges. Leadership is always accompanied by fear and anxiety. The American Psychological Association explains fear is “an appropriate, present-oriented, and short-lived response to a clearly identifiable and specific threat,” anxiety, on the contrary, is “a future-oriented, long-acting response broadly focused on a diffuse threat.” In the book The Anxious Achiever: Turn Your Biggest Fears into Your Leadership Superpower, the author (she claims that she is a leader with chronic, clinical anxiety) interviews leaders of various businesses and organizations. Through studying their struggles with anxiety and how they have learned to deal with it, the author tries to encourage the readers that it is normal for leaders to have anxiety or other mental health challenges. The book The Anxious Achiever is divided into two parts. In Part One, the author introduces and explains some characteristics of anxiety, the pros and cons of anxiety from work, self-examination initiatives, as well as how it affects us at work. Part Two of the book is a tool kit for leaders that provides suggestions for properly managing anxiety at work such as the prevention of negative self-talk and the avoidance of using unhelpful reactions and bad habits to deal with anxiety.
